For the record, I am in no way encouraging anyone not to get a vaccination, any more than I would encourage a cancer patient not to get chemotherapy. But I believe to the bottom of my soul that only you should be in control of your medical choices, and you should make informed choices for yourself and your children until they are old enough to do so for themselves. Some of us are more prone to side effects than others. Some of us need smaller doses of medicines than others. You know you and your family best.
It seems pretty certain from the repeated talking points about a coronavirus vaccine being the magic bullet that saves the world and releases the rest of us from captivity that we are headed for yet another mandated vaccine. While they may not hold you down and forcibly administer the vaccine, they will most certainly make it impossible for you not to. They will pass laws that require schools to require the vaccination if they want to get federal funding. They will pressure insurance carriers to mandate the vaccines for employees. The CDC and CMS will institute guidelines making sure that everyone in a nursing home or rehab facility has to have one to receive care there. It’s how they work.
Whether you are pro or con on the vaccine issue, you should get smarter about them. This may well be the time to decide if you want to fight or give in. Below are some links to information resources that I found very helpful, and I hope they will help you, too. Some are new, some are old—as is the vaccination debate.
